  • Overview

    TMR, Inc. seeks an experienced Network Specialist- Journeyman who can support our client located in the Aberdeen MD. This candidate must be a current Network Specialist with lots windows system administrator experience. 

    Responsibilities

    • Maintain responsibility for supporting hardware and system engineering efforts and providing maintenance and sustainment for existing and new government systems.
    • Assist with full life cycle support for critical systems in both operational and test environments.
    • Provide engineering change input for government system upgrades and ongoing engineering efforts.
    • Research and develop network and hardware solutions to replace obsolete system hardware, improve system interoperability, and implement approved solutions that follow established engineering and configuration management processes.
    • Conduct engineering system analyses on existing systems and provide network and system administrative input for new and ongoing efforts, provide engineering assistance to keep systems current with changing technologies, including assisting with security patch management and vendor upgrades, perform operating system installation, configuration, and maintenance on workstations and servers, and troubleshoot hardware and software issues, documenting resolutions and working with clients to establish and meet deadlines.
    • Troubleshoot networking issues and provide recommendations for network upgrades and system design documents.
    • Provide direct, hands-on network engineering expertise to help design, install, and maintain various DoD network architectures.
    • Test and evaluate network systems to eliminate problems and improve client core enterprise services in support of Army users. Work in a team-oriented environment that combines technical network engineering talent with business consulting expertise to deliver high quality IT solutions.
    • The candidate must be familiar with network vulnerability scanners (e.g. Retina, ACAS, Nessus). The candidate must be familiar with patch management software (e.g. WSUS, SCCM, etc.).

    Qualifications

    • Associate’s Degree and 5 years experience; or Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years experience; or Master’s Degree and 1 year experience; or combination of 7 years which may include education/specialized training/certifications and/or experience. Relevant education/experience must be in an IT discipline related to the assigned program area (e.g., Network Engineering, Network Management, Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer or Software Engineering, Management Information Systems, Computer Forensics/Security, etc.)
    • DOD Computing Environment, Security+ (or equivalent DOD Directive 8570.1 IAT II).
    • Secret security clearance to start with the ability to obtain/maintain a Top Secret clearance

    Preferred Qualifications:

     

    • Top Secret clearance
    • Proficiency with MS Office Suite
    • US Army experience
    • Strong ability to develop and present, orally and in writing, technical information to non-technical audiences and clients
